The Georgia Soccer Academy Committee would like invite all Georgia registered U10, U11, and U12 boys and girls teams to participate in the annual Academy Cup. The tournament will be held May 12-13 and will offer competitive games for for teams at all Academy ages. The tournament will showcase all three Academy age groups, with three or more flights offered for both boys and girls teams. Results of this event for the U12's will be one of the determining factors for U13 select placement in the fall. Over the years the Academy program has grown to become the true bridge between recreational and select soccer and the committee anticipates this event will spotlight the success of the program by showcasing the talent and development of all Academy players. DatesMay 12-13, 2012EligibilityThe Academy Cup is open to u12 teams, registered and in good standing with Georgia Soccer. Teams will play either 8v8 or 11v11.DivisionsTeams will be grouped to make the most competitive divisions possible. The Academy Cup Committee determines final placement. The Committee will use many factors to place teams into groups including game and tournament results, coach recommendations and level of team submitted on application.Players and TeamsAll teams and players must be registered with Georgia Soccer. A valid Georgia Soccer roster and player cards for each player, along with an official Tournament Roster, are required to participate. Tournament rosters will be formed from players in a league or club Academy and will be frozen at the pre-tournament coaches meeting. A player may play for only one team during the tournament.Guest PlayersTeams will be allowed to use up to 2 guest players for their teams if they are in need of players. The guest players must be from a registered Georgia Soccer recreational team in the same league as the team for which they are guest playing.FormatTeams will play either 8v8 (maximum roster size 14) or 11v11 (maximum roster size 18)AwardsIndividual awards for 1st and 2nd place teams in each competitive age division.LocationAllen Creek Soccer Complex.Fees and DeadlinesEntries due April, 2012Entry Fee: TBDOn-line registration:On-line registrations are quick and easy. On-line registrations may be paid by check or credit card. If a team withdraws prior to the close of entries, their entry fee will be refunded minus a $50.00 administrative fee. Once entries close, there will be no refunds of entry fees.If the tournament is cancelled due to weather or Acts of God, approximately one-half of the entry fee will be refunded.RefereesGeorgia Soccer is always looking for qualified referees.
